Seems to be a 'feature' of them. If its anything more than that then something could be amiss. You might find a change of oil helps, though that doesnt seem to improve things for everyone. I know this is an old thread, but the R8's i drove have all had notchy 2nd gears when cold. Once warm they were fine, but worrying mine may need attention. As its not difficult to engage, but you do need to engage slowly when stone cold, otherwise it does crunch a tad.
