The Fade is a bit annoying, but I think you should experience it at least once. Iirc another popular skip mod is “skip the Deep roads”, and this you 100% shouldn’t do. The "story" in the fade is not needed and becomes completely obsolete upon finishing the fade. Oh and the sloth deamon is hard to fight, just install the mod.
